Clam Bayou Nature Park
Beginning hikers and groups with small children and the less athletically inclined will love this loop trail at Clam Bayou Nature Park. It’s about a mile long and offers views of mangroves, herons, pelicans, and other birds and wildlife along with gorgeous natural vegetation. Small boardwalks jut out from the trail, offering expansive water views and an ideal place to take a break and watch the sunset.

Weedon Island Preserve
Located just a 20-minute drive from Gulfport, this natural area spans 3,190 acres adjacent to Tampa Bay, offering hikers unprecedented water views. Visitors to Weedon Island Preserve can explore the Interpretive Trail, which provides education about the island’s history and ecosystems. The one-mile Boy Scout Loop which offers access to an additional 1.7 miles of trails throughout the preserve and two miles of boardwalk and paved trails that are wheelchair accessible. Free guided hikes are also offered every Saturday.

North Bay National Recreation Trail
Beginning in downtown St. Petersburg, the North Bay National Recreation Trail is a 6.3-mile paved trail that heads through the city’s marina district along Coffee Pot Bayou to Vinoy Park. Those who want a longer hike can easily connect with the Pinellas Trail at Bay Shore Drive Southeast.

Pinellas Trail
The renowned Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail is a multi-use paved trail extending 42 miles from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. The trail was developed along an unused railway corridor and provides enjoyment of the area’s natural landscape. Along the trail, you’ll find rest stops with bathroom and picnic facilities and nature paths and access points that allow further exploration of scenic areas. The Pinellas Trail also features public art, with nine unique sculptures along the way.
