Bowling Safety Tips
Bowling is not exactly the type of sport that will require paramedics on the sideline. Unlike more dangerous contact sports like football and basketball, bowling is presumed to be one of the safest (if not the safest) sport there is. But take a look at that heavy bowling ball and the slippery floor—they are accidents waiting to happen. There’s also proper etiquette that every bowler, young or old, professional or amateur, should follow as a form of respect to other bowlers and spectators.

Bowling for Dollars is Back

Bowling For Dollars

The popular television game show, Bowling for Dollars is making a comeback. Bowling for Dollars was a franchise which made it a unique game show when it first aired in the 1960s. Being a franchise, Bowling for Dollars was not broadcasted nationally after being filmed in New York or Hollywood. Instead, local TV stations produced and televised episodes that included contestants from the area. The show was broadcasted in many large cities including Boston, Dallas, London, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. before reaching its peak in the 1970s. Various stations still broadcasted Bowling for Dollars well after it reached its high point until February 2008 when a local station in Buffalo aired an abbreviated version of the show. Recently, a local station in Detroit decided to revive the show which is expected to air in September of 2013.

Bizarre Bowling Lingo

BowlingEvery sport has a lingo players and fans use and it’s generally pretty easy to catch on to when you spend some time around it, at least for most sports. Bowling doesn’t seem to be one of those sports though. It seems like bowling has an endless amount of jargon which makes my head spin like a bowling ball! A lot of the terms make sense, but some of them are just too weird that I had to share!

First things first, I didn’t realize how many different ways the bowling pins could be left standing after the bowler’s first turn, known as a leave in bowling lingo, until I started learning what they were called. Here are a couple of the odd ones:
